A Shift in Focus: Why We’re Hanging Up the Trowel
At Beyond The Blueprint, our goal has always been to provide high-quality results while maintaining a timeline that respects your busy life. Throughout 2025, we took on a variety of plastering projects, from minor patch repairs to full sheet and wall replacements.
However, as we look toward 2026, we’ve made the strategic decision to no longer offer standalone plastering services.
We wanted to be transparent with our clients about why we’re making this change and how it allows us to better serve you in our core areas of expertise.
The Reality of the Drying Game
There is a common misconception that plastering is just “slapping on some goop and sanding it down.” In reality, professional plastering is a multi-stage craft that relies heavily on one thing we can’t control: time.
The biggest challenge we faced in 2025 wasn’t the skill required, but the idle time built into the process.
- The Multi-Day Cycle: A proper repair requires multiple coats. Between the base coat, topping coat, and finishing coat, there are mandatory drying windows.
- The Waiting Game: Depending on humidity and airflow, we often found ourselves waiting hours for a patch to dry before the next step could begin.
- Efficiency vs. Cost: For a business that focuses on comprehensive project management and specialised builds, having a team member “idle” while waiting for plaster to set simply isn’t cost-effective for us, or for you.
Prioritizing Our Core Strengths
Plastering is a specialized trade that deserves a specialist’s undivided attention. By stepping away from plastering repairs, we are freeing up our schedule to focus on what Beyond The Blueprint does best.
This shift allows us to:
- Improve Project Lead Times: No more “dead days” in the schedule waiting for mud to dry.
- Dedicated Focus: We are putting 100% of our energy into our primary construction and design services.
- Better Value: By focusing on our main business strengths, we ensure that every hour you pay for is spent actively building and progressing your project.
In 2026, plastering repairs and services will no longer be available unless it forms part of our home renovation projects.
